Relevant Patent Search > Introduction to Relevant Patent Search
The Relevant Patent Search Service is a service which uses the text mining technique to find relevant patents and is partly used to categorize the relevant patents into groups on the K-PEG evaluation system.
By entering the patent number or any texts in the paragraphs, summary, claims etc., this service comes up with a list of 100 patents which has high relevance to the search code. And this list of patents can be downloaded in excel format to be used for any purpose. The patent relevance can be lower than expected since patent professionals are not directly searching by entering the keywords, patent classifications, figures or chemical formulas.
However, using the current technology, even the best search services provided by artificial intelligence cannot come near the search done by human. Therefore, the best option when categorizing the relevant patents would be to request search to the patent professionals. However, if you are worried about the high cost or is in need of work without much accuracy or is only pre-investigating, this service is just what you are looking for.
Nowadays, this service is widely used to come up with technology transfer candidates by analyzing the patent applicants in the projects to track down the company in need of technology transfer. In our organization, we currently offer this service regarding the Korean and the U.S. patents and this service limits the search to only one country. For example, if you enter the Korean patent code, it will search among the Korean patents and if you enter the U.S. patent code, it will search among the U.S. patents. In other words, the service does not categorize all the nation’s patents together when coming up with the relevant patents according to the search code.
